Partnerships
The University of Montana Western is proud to partner with several community, state and national organizations in order to provide additional resources and educational offerings to our students and community. Our partners include tribal colleges and school districts, the Montana Center for Horsemanship, Montana Youth Challenge Academy, and Pima Medical Institute.
Indigenous Education Projects
The University of Montana Western's Indigenous Education Projects seek to support tribal education through partnerships, balancing Indigenous knowledge and ways of learning with Western ways of teaching and learning. UMW has partnered with Blackfeet Community College and Browning Public Schools and Little Big Horn College to co-deliver teacher training on the Blackfeet and the Crow Indian Reservations. Indigenous teacher candidates earn their degrees by simultaneously taking classes and working as teachers.

Three full-time horsemanship instructors and three full-time UMW professors represent the faculty, which uses an innovative experiential approach to working with horses, turning a student’s passion for horses into a rewarding and successful career.
